Cyclades & Dodecanese
Andros after dark
Andros is the second-largest Cycladic island and the closest to Athens (2 hours by ferry from Rafina) — historically the Athens shipowners' weekend retreat. Chora, on the east coast, has a small but stylish bar street built along a neoclassical-mansion seafront. Batsi on the west coast is the summer harbour-bar scene — touristier, livelier. The real Andros experience is the 100+ km of marked hiking trails through villages like Apoikia and Stenies, finishing at a riverside taverna with a glass of cold local kanela liqueur. No clubs, no foam parties — Andros is for the over-30 crowd.
